Some homeschool families like to buy a complete curriculum package from an already established company. Others like to create their own, by purchasing materials individually. Still other families don't feel the need or desire to utilize a curriculum at all, but use many other resources. There are a number of ways to get the job of education, done. What you find that works for your family, is what is right for them. As a homeschooling family, you also have the flexibility to use different methods interchangably, as in a more eclectic style of homeschooling. Unschooling is another term that is used for "child led" learning. Unschooling does not necessarily mean a family doesn't use textbooks, or other curriculum resources. But, it may. Some families use a unit study approach to homeschooling. This approach can have benefits along the line of digging deeper into subject content, and also, for working with multiple aged children in the same family. The curriculum packages listed below are a tiny number, compared to the 200+ catalogs that are available, as well as the many thousands of educational websites. Simply do an internet search for what you want - you'll probably find it many times over! Be sure to browse the Catalog page of this website. The SCOPE AND SEQUENCE is a list of subjects and content that is taught in the public schools throughout all grade levels. They teach specific subjects during specific grades. If a homeschool family would like to utilize this information in planning their homeschooling approach, there is some information listed below that addresses Scope & Sequence. STATE OF CT DEPT.
